mse Configurator

Product choices should not get lost between sales notes, variant lists, and manufacturing documents. mse Configurator connects selections in a sales quote or order with the required components in Business Central. Customer requirements become a traceable configuration that provides a basis for production.

Profiles and dependent questions

Reusable classes organize attributes into product profiles. A selection can add relevant follow-up questions, such as battery options when an electric drive is selected.

Allowed product options

Attribute values can be blocked globally or excluded for specific profiles. Available choices stay aligned with the product being configured.

Components from a configurable BOM

A production BOM contains all possible components. Selected attributes are compared with component attributes and applied when components are calculated in the production order.

Useful defaults

Default configurations for each item reduce repeated entry. Selected values can remain open for order-specific choices.

Reusable configuration variants

Depending on setup, configurations remain document-specific, reuse an identical existing variant, or create a new one. Stockkeeping units can optionally be created for new variants.

Component variant selection

Colors or other designated attributes can determine a component variant code. A missing component variant is created when the relevant setup is in place.

Length-based quantities and prices

Optional calculations derive quantities and sales prices from an entered length. Usable length, section length, scrap allowance, factors, and limits provide the agreed calculation basis.

Preview the component structure

The extended structure shows required and excluded components, including subassemblies. Quantities, prices, and variants help review the result before further processing.

Traceable configurations

Review selections in supported sales and production documents, item variants, stockkeeping units, and archived or posted sales documents.

Within your business process

One selection. A traceable path to production.

The configuration follows the transaction. Reliable results still depend on consistent master data, customer requirements, and production checks.

  1. Configure in sales

Configure an item in a quote or order, adjust defaults, and answer the required main and follow-up questions.

  2. Review the structure

Check the extended structure and, when variant creation is enabled, find or create the matching configuration variant.

  3. Verify in production

Transfer the configuration through supported workflows, calculate components, and check the production-order result.

Apply with purpose. Review with expertise.

Reliable configuration starts with reliable rules.

For manufactured items

The configurator uses profiles, component attributes, and production BOMs. Items with Assembly as their replenishment system are not supported.

Complete does not mean correct

The configuration status shows whether required values have been entered. Whether the selection meets the customer’s needs still requires expert review.

Handle changes deliberately

Changing a sales configuration does not automatically update an existing production order. Transfer, recalculation, and review belong together.

Protect downstream documents

Editing and deleting configurations in downstream documents are controlled separately. Posted and archived sales documents provide a read-only reference.
